"Hello Granny"

is what my hubby says to me, when at 31, he thinks possibly, I should be reading a book or paging through a magazine whilst lying in bed, I whip out my crochet stuff and crochet to relax and until my eyelids start to droop!

Maybe I am old-fashioned....

But then again who says crochet is for the "old".? Who says knitting is for the "old"?
I have noticed there is a big movement...ladies young and old are picking up their knitting needles and crochet hooks once again, like their grandmothers did and their grandmothers mothers did before them...

They are learning these age-old skills with renewed relish and energy...

It's everywhere I look...the latest fashions of clothing...hand crafter goodies for the home....
blankets...its all back!

So Ill continue to crochet and knit, like my granny before me. One of the best family things I have are two blankets my granny crocheted herself many many years ago...at least 40 years ago.... they are still going strong and a lovely reminder of her. I want to pass on the same to my children...

The false teeth stewing in a cup next to my bed can wait another 40 years!

Have a great weekend!

I'm glad that this art form is not disappearing like so many other domestic arts. My mother's mother...crocheted everyone of her first grandchildren, afgans when they graduated from high school...there were over 80 with 11 kids...and I still have mine. I also have the first son's baby blanket that one of my aunts crocheted...and he's 31 now. I just love those colors in your squares...very fresh!

I am loving crocheting at the moment too. I have to add that I have also been called "Granny" by my family as I take my crochet absolutely everywhere! LOL! It'[s great to have in the car while waiting to pick kids up at school - I loathe wasted time! LOL!
Love the colours you've used for your granny squares.
I'm busy crocheting rounds in different colours and then I'll be stitching them onto a plain ecru cushion for my daughters bed. The cushion will be the witdth of her Queen sized bed- so it's going to be long and then the height of a normal cushion. (Copycat here- I saw this recenty in a grogeous shop- for R900!)
Happy crocheting!

oh bon, i love your squares,i love the colours you've used.
i am so looking forward to learning to crochet with you!!
my nanna knitted a baby blanket for my sister that my mum passed on to me for both my boys,i treasure it so much.
but yes, you are right, everything vintage and traditional is coming back in, including the 'make do & mend' and knitting, sewing, crocheting.
did you know Julia Roberts is known for getting her knitting out on set? as do many of famous cool actresses. wouldn't call her a granny!!
but my hubby doesn't like it either, butthen his mum is always knitting and crocheting and he associates it with a mother-granny thing!
