Domestic Bliss

I never thought I would be one to say those two words in the same sentence! And yet, here I am am saying them!

It is days like this I most treasure. Quiet, unassuming days, filled with normal, everyday things. Activities that mark the foundation of our family, that lend a comforting and wholesome atmosphere. The little things that my kids will hopefully one day look back on with a warm fondness and a lightness in their hearts.

Afternoon baking cupcakes with the kids, watching their little hands busy at work -sprinkling "hundreds and thousands", choc-mint vermicelli, starts, polka dots... eager to take a bite into their cupcake...

Me..I love to wait....first clean up the mess, stack the dishwasher, get the counters nice and tidy and clean again, a quick sweep...wait while they run off to go and play Lego. Then I put the kettle on and make a cup of Earl Grey tea, grab my cupcake and my book and sneak off to my room to savor the few moments of peace...delving into a book I am so enjoying,

savoring the yummy warm cupcake and glace icing and enjoying the aroma of the citrus in the tea...sigh....heaven♥

Another Domestic bliss today was after cleaning my bedroom, I lay my crocheted blanket I am working on across my bed. (yes, the reveal!) It is not finished. In fact it is probably just shy of half way. I want it to cover most of my bed and hang down at the sides and bottom at least half a meter....so a lot of work to go still and THIS time, I WILL finish it in time for winter. I work on it a bit everyday and do at least a row or two a day, so it goes quickly.

See you tomorrow!

There is always something comforting in "nesting" or as you say..."domestic bliss". Now I'm off to find me a cupcake...just wish that it wouldn't find domestic bliss on my bum...lol

Domestic Bliss, I remember those wonderful days when my daughter was young...enjoy every minute, because...this too shall pass and be replaced by other, but different wonderful things. Your afghan is sooo pretty, love those colours very much. Love earl grey tea too, although I mostly drink herbal now, today's was lemon grass. Yum. Spent the day visiting with my sister who is holidaying about 3 hours away, then drove home for a dinner made by DH. Now cuddling with my two little pups and checking the email. Domestic Bliss, but different. Hugs, Jan

Hi Bonnie
I love your blanket. The colours are stunning. Pretty cupcake too. Sorry I can never remember my Google password, so I battle to post comments, hope I get it right this time.
