A delightful Afternoon

Hello there !
I hope you had a good weekend...what did you get up to?
Here it was bitterly cold-a wet, cold and rainy weekend which consisted of wearing layers upon layers, drinking lot's of coffee, hibernating indoors and cuddling up watching movies {"The Smurfs"} and eating popcorn. A rather cozy sort of weekend.

Today the sun came out in all her glory and warmed my frozen-through bones! I felt myself thawing out and also wondering what on earth we are in for if winter only officially starts the 1st June!!

After a good workout at gym, a thorough clean and tidy-up at home which took the good part of 2.5 hours! I made a batch of delicious raspberry and blueberry muffins, packed apples and yoghurt and water, the picnic blanket, my camera and set off to fetch the kids from school. Normally I NEVER attempt to do this on a weekday (unless it is Friday) because the amount of homework they both come home with is atrocious and can take a good 2 hours!

I packed the still steaming hot muffins into the cooler bag and raced off to fetch them from school. My heart was doing little flippty-flips of pure happiness as I drove along, looking at the gorgeous day in her golden-brown beauty. Fallen leaves on the sidewalks, sunlight flickering through the trees and the smell of those delicious fruity muffins wafting through the car!

We got there, and straight away set up the blanket and picnic and tucked into the muffins...oh so worth the wheat intolerance!!! Biting into that warm, sweet and soft muffin was heaven!

I just couldn't resist...the day was so bright, the sun so warm, the greens so vibrant...I could hear the nature reserve calling, whispering through the golden brown leaves...

Homework could wait...{regretted it later, but anyway!!}

What a gorgeous day.
So many mushrooms growing...

Lovely Golden, syrupy leaves...

A walk to see the Fynbos

Protea

And this gorgeous sunset to end the day! A perfect end to a perfect day!

Speaking of the Smurfs movie...whilst watching it I noticed a gorgeous Afghan (blanket) on the couch. It was so beautiful and I thought to myself that I just have to make it! I then googled "Crochet blanket in Smurfs movie" later on and I was surprised to see I was not the only one who had fallen in love with the blanket and wanted to crochet it!!

One little question...I see I only have 2 entries so far for my 6th blogoversary giveaway...feeling rather embarrassed about it ...pretty please enter it...it is FREE. :) I am going to add a few things to it as well (as a surprise!)

what a lovely day indeed! :) you are surrounded by such natural beauty! living in the city, i am quite jealous. ;) when my daughter was still in school (we homeschool now) i would sometimes take her to the park or once i even called her in sick and we went to the children's discovery museum for the whole day! it's little surprises like that which make those wonderful childhood memories! :)

like everyone else I think your photos are fantastic, really love the first one of the berries, and then the protea - they don't grow here so it's neat to see one on the plant instead of a vase!
Love your potting table from DH too!
