{Tutorial}Pretty Packages.

Hello friends!
Today has been one of the coldest days so far...and we are just entering our winter!
We had winds of 48km/h too! It was really miserable. The wind seems to have died down a bit now, but earlier I had to go and fetch my municipal bin down the end of my road as it had blown away! As well as call my husband to come home from work as our Patio Gezebo was about to blast off into outta space! If pigs could fly, today would of been the day to see some pigs "flying" -with the wind!

So last night we saw my husbands niece's and I gave them their handmade Journals.
I am so happy I made them as they absolutely loved them!!
So it was the perfect gift for them!

I wanted to show you the wrapping I did for them. To me, a beautifully wrapped gift is part of the gift. I so enjoy wrapping gifts, I think more than the gift giving itself!! I love gift giving, and I love being creative with how I wrap things. I love it when people say "It's so beautiful, I don't want to open it" ! Am I crazy? Probably...just a little. There is just something oddly satisfying about hearing that, to know the joy of opening it is starting with how it is wrapped and knowing the wrapping can be kept and used in a scrap book or on a tag or even to wrap another present! (hee hee).

So Today I thought I would share a quick tutorial on gift wrapping.
Now, I don't profess to be a pro at this or think my gift wrapping is out of this world, but I don't think it's too shabby! hee hee. And I know there is always someone that could benefit. So here goes...

What you need:
*wrapping paper of your choice
* cello-tape, scissors,
* paper doilies
* ribbon
* gift tag
* pin
* flower

Step One:
Start with the basic, wrap your gift. Once it is wrapped, cut a piece of ribbon about 1m in length.
Tie the ribbon around the parcel and loop it at the back (the ugly part)then twist it.

and turn the parcel and wrap the ribbon from the back to the front, tie a knot.

Step two
With the ribbon, tie a bow. Then with the lengths, tie another bow and again and again. You should be able to get about 4 bows out of the lengths.

Step three:
Glue a paper doily onto the side over the ribbon.
Glue some paper tags on, a flower with a pin through and you are done!

And one more tutorial.
On How to wrap this:

What you need:
*gift wrap
*scissors, tape and craft glue
*string
*old music paper
*tags
*3 paper doilys
*thick ribbon
*1 flower

Step one

wrap gift. Then cut a strip of music paper about 4cm wide. Long enough to just wrap over the top and bottom. Glue that on.

Step two
Next glue on a paper doily on the right bottom and top left.
Wrap your ribbon around the gift and secure it at the back with tape.
Then with a new long piece of ribbon, secure in front with a piece of tape.

Step three
Make a loop with the ribbon. Glue the underneath of the loop and where the loop meets. Hold in place until it doesn't spring up anymore.

Step Four:
Loop the ribbon again and repeat the steps with the glue.

It should look like this {two loops}

Do this a third time{three loops on each side}

Step Five:
On the third loop, glue it down back onto itself and then loop to the right, folding the ribbon underneath so that the two sides meet. Glue it all down. Now you can start on the right side, repeating the steps until you have three loops again.

Here you can see what I mean when I say glue underneath. Basically three layers of glue.

two loops on the right side

All three loops on the left and right side. {It's sort of a concertina effect}
The last loop on the right side, fold the edge of the ribbon underneath and glue it.

Press it all down or put a heavy book ontop for a few minutes until the glue has set.

Step six
Now you can add your embellishments.
I used a paper doily. I cut 4 slits into it and then sort of folded the slits one on top of the other so that it stood up a bit more. Glued that down and then glued the flower to that.

In the bottom right corner on the doily, I glued the tags down. {punched a hold and tied with string first}

And there you go! Hope it can help someone! Feel free to pin!! {as long as it links back to my blog, I don't mind!}

Beautiful! The doilies really add a lot to the presentation! I confess: I think I am the world's worst gift wrapper!
Stay warm! It's boiling here already!

Hi Bonnie,
Beautifully wrapped! Love the doilies! I'm so with you when it comes to beautifully wrapped gifts! I also get more joy from that than the gift and so enjoy it when someone appreciates the effort.

Stay warm down South! We're bracing ourselves for the first cold snap to hit us tonight.Tomorrow is going to be freezing! - eek!! We've had two power-outages just this week and one last week! Going shopping for a generator this weekend!!
Have a great weekend! Vxx

These are gifts from a generous heart! lovely... especially love the sheer ribbon with the yellow striped paper.(I will be buying myselft some metres of this as it will go with anything - tx for the idea). I also love your fabric roses... I have always loved your fabric flowers but these roses really caught my eye, note sure if it's the fabric or colour, so classic looking. I am mad about wrapping ideas so enjoyed this post very much. thanx Nicki
