As I was saying yesterday, before that rather rude Fred the snail decided to chip in and have his sad little story sploshed all over my blog...I did some crochet on the weekend, which was decidedly sunny and springy and happy-like.
After a serious lack of Vitamin D I think a bit too much sun made me somewhat giddy and energetic-in a good way of course.
And of course had to play with some flare....♥

This is the hat I made for my daughter...
There is a little twist to the original purpose of this hat. I actually set out to knit a tea cozy.
Yes, I know, knitting...I must say, since discovering crochet, I really wonder why anybody would ever want to knit again! Crochet is so easy, so much less complicated and no fuss about dropping stitches, loosing stitches and ending up with having to unravel the whole lot! Or setting out to knit a scarf only to find you end up with a blanket the size of a small country.
I like the look of knitting, like a lovely purl knitted Jersey or a cable sweater...it can be really
pretty, so much work, so much concentration and not even fun during the process for me.
(knitting fans: please don't point those knitting needles at me, you're scaring me!)
I'm just saying...that's all. I personally love crochet. So anyway, the knitted tea cozy ended up looking like a fur ball my cat puked up and I discarded it with a fling of disgust...
Until I had an idea to turn it into a hat...
Here you can see (below) is where I started adding the border at the bottom. I first did a row of single crochet (in blue) all around and then a dc row and then a single row of pink.
On the raised bits of knitting ( the knit rows) I added some sc colors too.

And finally attached my roses.
I thought i would wear it to show you what it looks like on (imagine it on a cute, sweet little girl rather though okay?) hee hee.

And that is the story of how a tea cozy became a hat.
Thanks for popping by!
The lovely SUPER EASY rose pattern I got from Lucy of Attic24.
Thanks Lucy!

Love the story and the hat is stunning. Was hoping there'd be a pic of someone wearing it... You could sell hats like those, they are so pretty, love the flowers. Have a nice day.
That hat is so cute- you put such unusual colours together and it worked beautifully! Knitting+me=disaster, so I am with you there! I either ALWAYS drop stitches or gain so many that I end up with some weird shape everytime! Enjoy the sunshine! It feels like summer here already- I think we just skipped Spring! 30 degrees here today! Yummy!!!
