Boschendal Wine Farm

Earlier this year I took some family to a wine Estate called Boschendal.
Funny, how when you live in an area and you always see a place and think "I must go there" and somehow you never do. But it's a different story when you are taking visitors around and then you go to all these places you have always wanted to go!

It is like being a tourist yourself when that happens and in a way, you get to experience it with them for the first time. So I suppose it has its advantages. It certainly made me realize, going to all these places, that I really need to sight see my own area more! There is so much beauty and so many lovely wine farms we could visit and this coming spring/summer I plan to do just that! Get out more...sight see more. Be a tourist in my own country!

We had a gorgeous picnic lunch under the pine trees. The kids had a huge area to play as well.
The food was scrum-diddly-umtious  and came in a basket which you unpack and help yourself to.
The kids each had their own little basket. So cute. A bread roll, apple, yogurt, chips, a piece of cheese, sweeties and a chocolate brownie.
We had salad, potato salad, a cold meat selection, crackers, chicken curry, assorted pates and a french baguette.
After a totally yum and satisfying lunch, it was time to get some exercise and explore this beautiful place.
Lovely old Cape Dutch houses, stunning gardens.
 Apples gleaming in the sunlight.
 Old English roses.
 Tree-lined walks
Beautiful Cape Dutch gables against a clear, blue sky.
Some pretty flowers in an old wine barrel.

I'm glad I am sharing this pictures, they bring back great memories and also the distant memory of warmer days. It is cold here and we are so in Autumn right now. If it's cold already, I hate to know what our winter is going to be like! Cold, but sunny and no rain at least! (for now!)

Just a question, would love to hear your thoughts: Do you enjoy seeing these kind of posts in which I show you photo's of places I have visited, holidays etc or it is all rather dull? I guess it's hard to tell sometimes! I would think it would be interesting as I personally love nature and love to see photo's of other places. It is so interesting! But then that is just me.

Don't forget about my blogoversary, counting down now 7 days time! It's going to be a fun one with lot's of posts on the actual day! Without giving too much away, it will be worth a visit a few times on that day as I have some fun things planned. Bookmark the day-16 May.

RSVP :) so I know you're coming!

I love these posts Bonnie and also the one you posted about Babylonstoren. You certainly do live in a beautiful part of South Africa and I just looove those mountains.

You manage to capture the real beauty of your area and so keep them coming. I'm not bored with them at all.

I hope to be able to visit for your blogaversary on the 16th.

Hugs

I love your photography and viewing our beautiful country. I live in the Western Cape and am so darn busy over weekends to head for the country, so it's great seeing all the stunning wine farms, etc. through your eyes. That lunch looks so yummy, must put that on my To Do list...lol Keep 'em coming! hugs Sharon

Hi bon. YES love seeing your beautiful surroundings!! Keep them coming!
It looks like verllegen or whatever it was called, esp the dutch houses. Love the bike against the tree, just like mine!! Was it a prop or actually a visitors/staff bicycle?
And those pinics!! We never get anything like that here and if we did it would cost an arm and a leg and a head of hair!!!! Hahaha.
Sigh makes me wish we could come visit again! Miss you xx

I love seeing your photos and reading your blog, but I feel sad that you never include photos of your kids, and hardly any of you. You don't have facebook, so I miss out big time on them growing up :(

Arw Jen...I wish the world we lived in was a safer place for me to do that, but I made a promise that my blog was not about sharing my family life as much as I would love to-I am proud of my children and love them to bits and want to write about them everyday, but it's not the place. Too many weirdos out there who would take advantage of it. and I am not one for FB! I was on it once and hated it, it ate up so much of my time too.
