A blog is about so many things.
It is a place to share thoughts, dreams, aspirations, inspirations, ideas, projects and opinions.
It is a place for the blogger to say "hey, this is me, this is my space".
When we visit a blog, we are in actual effect, stepping into someone's world, into their "home".
We are accepting an invitation that says, "welcome, do step inside, feel free to browse around."
We get to learn a bit about the person, to see their world through their eyes.
A blog is about sharing. It is about knowing that what you have to say,no matter how small and insignificant matters, at least to somebody else out there. Very few of us will ever get to meet the people that read our blogs in real life. Often, the reader remains as much as an enigma as the blogger herself.
However, you, the reader, know as well as I, the blogger, that we are real people. Mothers, wives, sisters, daughters, friends, aunts-we live and breathe and fall and get up just like everybody else.
We rant and rave, we get angry, we sob, we fail, we try harder. We loose loved ones, we watch our children grow and weep at their independence and laugh for joy at their victories. We have dreams and hopes and visions and families.
So dear reader...you are reading the blog of a REAL person. Picture me sitting on my bed, with my laptop on my lap, my legs curled up under me. Wearing blue jeans, two pairs of socks (cos it so darn cold!) a mustard-yellow top. Kids are getting ready for bed and the day is drawing to a close....
So let me have the chance to get to know my readers. Let me get to know YOU a little better.
Play this game with me...
#Leave a comment and tell me one thing about yourself.
It can be what your favorite TV programe is, the best thing about your day, your favorite flower, a book you've just read or are reading, -anything.
I look forward getting to know you a bit better. Don't be shy.
...Let me know you were here. No prizes for this one...just something real.
{more to come later}

My name is Michelle and I'm not a good cook, but I make awesome crème brulee.
Hi Michelle! I don't enjoy cooking either and I have never made a crème brulee! Thanks for stopping by!
My favorite flowers are the little old fashioned "fairy roses"; they smell so delicious and look so sweet. They make me think of flower fairies. Do they grow in SA? I don't know. I used to mark pressed flower arrangements, but have not done any in years.
I think I have read your blog almost from the beginning.--Elaine
Hi Elaine!
Thanks for stopping by. I have a climbing rose bush in my garden with tiny little pink roses on. Maybe it's that you are referring to? They do smell heavenly. I also like pressing flowers, but don't do it very often.
Hi Bon, i'm tucked up in bed, with my kindle hd, been writing in my journal a little motivational goal page about losing weight! I have kept a journal every year since i was 14. I don't write everyday, but at least once a week. And i have every one still. As well as all of your letters that you have written from the very first one in 1996/7!!
Yours is the longest and best kept friendship i have, because you just never give up on me! I love your blog, its like the trailer into your next letter!! (Coming soon to a letterbox near you!!)
Love you lots, Em Xx
I've just come home from hospital - Monday. I've had a hip re-replaced and it's far more difficult than any of my other joint replacements. Thank goodness I lost some weight ahead of time as I'm on feather weight bearing for 6 weeks, which translates into hopping everywhere.
I am reading a book by Robin Hobb called Sharman's Crossing, first in a trilogy called Soldier Sons. I've read 4 of her trilogy's which are fantasy books about dragons, magic and other civilizations. Very well written. My daughter introduced me to her work and it gives us a good topic to discuss together - bonus!
Just a little addition - I love creme brulee but have never made it. I just gave a beautiful kit to make it away as a wedding gift, but secretly wanted to try it myself!!
Hi Jan.
Have you been getting the emails i send in reply to your comments? Let me know. I sent you one yesterday. Glad your op went well. rest up and take it easy! ps I don't do well with fantasy books!
Hi Bonnie!
I love painting in oil paints - My favourite thing in the world to do when I just want to 'lose' myself. I attend art class once a week with a art teacher. He has a Master degree in art.
Hope you have a fabulous weekend! Congrats on yoru 'blogaversary'!
Hi Veronica
The painting once a week sounds like a lovely way to loose yourself and immerse yourself in creativity! Thanks for sharing!
