Crochet : Baby blanket / Snood / itty bitty pieces

Hello lovelies!
My sister commissioned me to make her a baby blanket and a few hats and hair bands for her soon-to-be grand daughter a few months ago.
The blanket took longer than I had wanted to take on it. But then again I am not the fastest at crochet.
I am very happy with it though. The colors are not my personal cup of tea, but I know my sister likes them and chose them. I do love the yarn though-so soft and thick and warm. I decided to crochet the squares together using two of the colors in the blanket. It added to it's coziness and thickness. I finished it off with a row of dc orange and then a thick border of white. (simply 4 rows of dc followed by one edge all the way around of ch5, sl st.

I always struggle with the arrangement of the squares, being careful not to have the same color together either across or down. For a bit of contrast I threw in some squares that had all the colors in.

Here you can see the rows where it is joined at the back, some in pink and some in orange.
I am quite in love with it, even though the colors were not my favorite...it was my best constructed blanket I think and even hubby commented on what a great job I did! *now you say "awww"*

I also made a snood for my niece and an infinity cowl for my sis.

My sister is holding the baby shower this coming weekend but I won't be able to make it, so I sent this crocheted bunting I made for the baby's room. It's not shown in the photo, but I ended up sewing the ribbon to the bunting as it kept shifting.

Other random crochet odds and ends include some trim I made for my scrap booking projects.

And a white shelf edging from Simply Crochet magazine.
The edging was just a trial run but I think I am going to make a longer one for my laundry room.

So that is my latest in the crochet world. I also made my daughter a hat which I will post about soon.
What crochet projects are you doing at the moment? If you don't crochet, what other projects do you have on the go?

Your crocheted blanket is stunning, even those colours look so nice together. It will keep the baby warm. I remember my Mom crocheting pram-sized blankies for my baby and my sister's 2. I've enjoyed visiting you today to see your handmade creations. Keep warm, Sharon

Thanks Sharon! The blanket isn't exactly huge, but it will be fine for a pram or to use in the cot. If had more time (like half a year)it might of been bigger ( ha ha) I am not fast at crochet! It takes me forever!

Hi Bon,well done on all your crochet bits. The blanket looks great. Quite refreshing to see a blanket for a girl thats not all pastels. Its not my colour preferences but it is still lovely and cheerful and colourful.
Love the shelf edging too. I was going to make some but i wanted mine to be more lacy!
I have been busy with crocheting little bits for my sister. Some face cloths, i keep trying things but giving up as i keep losing count of my stitches!! I have several unfinished given up projects i need to sort out. one slipper, a earless, eyeless and muzzle-less dear (from simply crochet) a third of a shawl, that i doubt i have enough yarn to finish, curtain tie-backs that need 'something else'. I need to stop crocheting while watching tv or distracted by the kids!!
