It's been ages since my last post! Life has been quite busy bit a bit of stress and sadness thrown in...
It was school holiday's, most of that time my whole family, including me, had flu. I had it very badly and was literally in bed for a week. It's taken me a week to gain my energy and strength back. I've forfeited gym, kept housework to a minimum and just tried to take things slowly. It really was a horrible flu. My poor kid's had a miserable holiday being sick and stuck at home, in doors for a full 10 days!
I even had to resort to doing online grocery shopping (something I have never done before!).
Thankfully we are all better now.
Before I was so horribly ill, I made a few things and have been anxious to get a few blog posts in and now I can.
However, before and after all of that, there have been some good times too...
I started this blanket for my daughter's room a while ago and since this photo it has grown considerably.
She wanted a bright, patchwork blanket. I love doing this kind of blanket, the squares are quick and easy to make and you can see the progress so much quicker. I join the squares as I go along, not really being too
careful about what goes where, but somehow trying to make it pleasing to the eye and also not letting the colors clash too much.
I love the bright colors. It is very different to what I normally make, it spells happiness, life and
fun and sunshine!
I whipped up this coffee plunger cozy one day. Again...bright colors. So odd for me! It has a heart button to close it with and really does keep my coffee nice and cozy!
I am sure you spotted the big pot holder the coffee plunger is resting on...
Another fun project, again BRIGHT colors!? I think at the time I was reading a lot of Lucy's blog and also
Jenn's blog. Two crochet blog's I adore and gain much inspiration from. I used Jenn's pot holder pattern.
Such a easy and lovely pattern to use (Thank yo Jenn!) Both Lucy and Jenn use a lot of bright colors in their crochet and home. My home has a more vintage, subdued color scheme, but every now and then I like the pop of color.
It is gorgeous and so big! I didn't make mine a double one.
My little niece told me she needed a bag and so I made her a crocheted bag. Unfortunately I was rushing to finish it before she went home, so I didn't get to photograph it properly, but it had lining inside and I made a rose for the front. She was very happy with it.
This photo below was taken on a glorious sunny day. I sat outside on a blanket and crocheted all day! The kid's played in the garden. It was a perfect Spring day. I was busy with a Babushka doll for our caravan. I intended to make the whole family, but so far have made the biggest one and the smallest one!
One thing I love about being outside is the warm sun and being surrounded by flowers and trees and nature. Hearing the birds twittering and chattering, seeing the myriads of dragonflies and butterflies we have in our garden at the moment. I've spotted ladybirds, praying mantis and many different garden spiders too, even a few fat, fluffy bumble bee's!
The Babushka doll pattern I got from Nikki Trench's book "Cute and easy crochet".
The pattern said the biggest doll was 22cm I think, but mine ended up over 30cm in height! I think I used a thicker wool.
And so here she is with her daughter! ha ha. They will go into the caravan as decoration and toys for the kids to play with during our family camping holidays. I will get around to making the other two at some stage but I sort of lost interest in them for now!
Looking at all these photo's I love seeing the bright, fun colors. It seems if every project went that way. We have had such a long winter and even had snow on our mountain range in September! (the start of our Spring!) I don't think that has ever happened before. We always get snow during August, one last cold spell. But then September rolls around and we pack away our winter woolies, boots and soak up the warm sun.
Not this year! We were still lighting fires in September!
The past two weeks have definitely warmed up though and this week has been true Spring. In fact, in the mornings, it's been warm enough to wear a T-shirt when taking the kid's to school!
I am really looking forward to warm days, picnicking, eating ice-creams on the beach, lazing in the garden, building tents, visiting the nature reserve a lot more and so much more!
Thanks for popping by , do leave a comment and say hi! I always love to hear from you.
Enjoy your weekend, whether it's a cozy Autumn one or a sunny Spring one!

I just love looking at your crochet work as it reminds me of my younger days when I used to make crocheted blankets and ponjo's. They were very IN back then.
