Mini Journals

I made two mini art journals that are now for sale in my Etsy store.
These are the kind of journals you will learn to make along with the class "discovering myself" starting on the 24th September. See posts below for more info.

I found this gorgeous blog today "Life is Beautiful" She has a lovely giveaway on to win one of her gorgeous handmade journals. Unfortunately by telling others it lessens my chances drastically, but one of the things is that you can enter multiple times if you refer to her blog post!
but I wanna win so will take the chance *evil grin*

So...what a crap day for the 1st of Spring...two sick kids at home, a sore throat that feels like I swallowed a camel who had drunk a chilli milkshake just before....and a wet, windy and miserable day outside!!! *hmnmm....sure I just saw my cat go whizzing past my window!*....must be the medication I am on!

I need cheering up....comments would do just that....(hint hint). PLEASE...tell me something funny, anything...I could do with a few laughs today!

Birds and flowers

{A little jug of flowers from my garden. My sweet pea's are smelling wonderful!}

Tomorrow is our official start of Spring!
Although the last two days have not felt like it, with rain and wind and cold!
But I am sure the weather will start to improve over the next few weeks. The good news is that my hay fever hasn't started yet! Normally I start in August.

I managed to take these photos yesterday of the bird life that has flocked to our area recently.

There are still some kits left for my online class.
The class starts the 24th September. If you would like to join and would like a kit, purchasing time for the kits cuts off 10th September as I need to still mail them out and make sure they have plenty of time to get to you before class starts.
The class is going to be a lot of fun , with free printables and at the end of it, you will have a fabulous little mini journal you have made yourself!

Remember you can also purchase just the class (you get your own supplies) and that will give you entry into the private class blog.

Online Class: Mini Art Journal (Discovering Myself)

I'm excited to offer this online class....Discovering Myself.
In this class we will be making a mini art journal from scratch and at the same time covering topics that will take you on a journey of self-discovery.

What inspired this class? I was paging through a mag, when I saw an interesting interview. The questions were fun and interesting and I thought it would make a great mini album/journal.
So often we don't document our own lives. We scrap our kids, our husbands, even our pets, but often we don't do a page about ourselves.

This is a chance to document your story.

The class is done at your own pace and includes:
-Invitation to a private blog with daily lessons posted once class commences.
-Detailed instructions and photographs.
-Free printable/s for the class.
-class commences 24th September 2010

I have put together some supply kits (they are limited and offered on a first-come-first-serve basis). Each kit contains all the ingredients you need to put together your own little mini album similar to what you see in the photos above. They won't be identical, but just as pretty! (and not made up like that, just the raw ingredients!)

What else you need for the class:
scissors or trimmer, adhesive, brads, thread and needle (or sewing machine is better), printer, ruler and your imagination!
This class if for anyone even if you have never done something like this before!

It will be a fun class, and a great excuse to cut and paste, and document yourself, your life, for yourself and family!

If you have any questions, please email me (email is in side bar).

Otherwise registration is open NOW.

Class Registration

{Class kits sold out.} but you can join the class anytime.
It is a self-paced class on a blog, upon receipt of payment, i will send your personal invitation to view the blog.

creativity

Creativity enriches you

Creativity is separate from the real world for you. But it’s a magical world in which you like to immerse yourself. When you’re involved in it, you get the wonderful sensation that there are no limits, that anything is possible. What you are really looking for is harmony — you want to feel you are a part of what you create. Planting flowers, writing poetry, embroidery or putting together a photo album, these are all suited to your sort of quiet creativity. You want to fall in love with what you create. You also think of creativity as a part of you in which you can take refuge and feel protected. As the psychoanalyst D Anzieu explained, creativity acts as an ‘encouraging parent — loving, enriching and supportive’. You would love to use your creativity to retreat into a world that is kind and reassuring. For you, being creative means having the chance to become one with what you create, bathe in the glory of it and allow yourself to be taken over by it. This is why you seem more suited to the sort of creativity that calls for gentleness, subtlety, harmony and patience.

take the test

It's true I must say!
Spent time yesterday making goodies!

These lovely soft and light organza and tulle flowers! Which are now for sale in my Etsy shop here

I was a bit nervous making them as you have to burn the edges over a flame, but I must say, I came away unscathed, and my house is still standing! And I was surprised at how easy they are, fun and rewarding! I can think of scrap booking, hair accessories(my dd is already after one for her alice band! as I make her accessorize her hair bands myself!)

Some teeny tiny little felt buntings....perfect for craft projects and scrap book layouts.

Socks on a pine-needle carpet....

Another adventure at the nature reserve. I discovered that the forest floor, carpeted with pine needles, is actually a wonderful thing! Soft and comfy!

There is something about lying on a forest floor and smelling the natural earth, that thick pine needle scent mixed with ground...wonderfully relaxing!

I kicked off my boots...

and lay down under the trees...

watching the kids make a home for a squirrel out of pine needles and fallen logs.

Seeing all the little spring flowers coming up...

The kids floating their boats down the streams....

and went home quite tired!
Next time you're in a pine-tree forest, take your shoes off (if you have socks on) and walk around...it is fantastic! And then lie down and smell the earth, breathe it in (yes call me whacked!!) I guess I am a bit of a tree-hugging nature freak! ha ha.
Have a good week!
